Hope Scholarships
Kids Who Care resides in the heart of the Fort Worth Cultural District at the Scott Theatre and offers unparalleled opportunities for young artists. Through leadership training, fine arts education, and performance, Kids Who Care is building the leaders of tomorrow. However, these opportunities may not be available to families without Hope Scholarships.
Kids Who Care has given over 650 Hope Scholarships since 1989. We award between 25-40 scholarships each year to participants in Musical Theatre Camps and year-round training. Annually, $45,000 to $65,000 is required to support the Hope Scholarship Recipients.
Scholarships are awarded, primarily, based on financial status. Most scholarship families have an average annual gross income of $21,000 or less. Special Scholarship funds including the Hearing Health Fund and the Aaron Rivera Memorial Fund have also benefited hearing impaired children and young actors fighting cancer.
Application for a Hope Scholarship is a two-step process. First, applicants must submit documentation to verify financial status. Once the applicant’s family is financially pre-qualified, the applicant is then scheduled for the audition portion of the process.
Hope Scholarships are named in honor of Founding Director Deborah Jung’s grandmother Hope Murphy.
