Original Works Archive
Kids Who Care has produced original works since 1990 in partnership with Sopie Productions, a team of Texas playwrights and songwriters. Each July a new musical premieres at the Scott Theatre in Fort Worth with a company of kids ages 6-20 from around the world. Young artists come from Israel, Italy, Germany, Indonesia, Switzerland, Latvia, Finland, Scotland, Spain, and across the United States.
Tours of the original works began in 1991 with an invitation to the Kennedy Center’s Texas Festival of the Arts. Since that time, Kids Who Care has toured the original works to New York, Los Angeles, Italy, Germany, Chicago, Orlando, Nashville, and cities across Texas.
About the Playwrights
More than 100 actors/playwrights/songwriters, young and old, collaborate to produce each new work. Included are artists of all ages — KWC students, audiologists, music ministers, theatre producers/directors, educators, journalists, postmen, and physical fitness professionals to name a few. The group annually lends the work to Kids Who Care to produce and workshop for eleven months beginning with the international summer camp.
